JAKARTA - Representing the votes of exporters and transportation service users, Toto Dirgantoro urged the government to seriously fix the mode of transportation of goods and containers. The main pressure is a more massive control of trucks that are not in accordance with the designation and optimization of the KIR test.
This firm demand was conveyed by Toto in his capacity as a Secretary General of the Joint Indonesian Exporter Company (GPEI) and Chairperson of the Indonesian Transportation Service Users Council (Depalindo).
He asked the Ministry of Transportation and the Department of Transportation in all regions to no longer compromise with transportation that did not meet the requirements.
"Depalindo asked the Directorate General of Land Ministry of Transportation and the Department of Transportation in all regions to take firm steps," Toto said, launchingLogisticsNews.idon Friday (12/9/2025).
Toto highlighted the Port of Belawan in Medan as one of the most striking examples, where there were still many trucks that were not designed for containers but were forced to operate with alleged omissions from the local regulator.
"Based on our observations directly in the field, the most striking in the Port of Belawan," said Toto.
In addition to controlling, he also stressed the importance of the implementation of a tighter and comprehensive KIR test. According to him, the main problem is not at the age of the vehicle, but rather in its feasibility to operate safely on the highway.
Enforcement of strict KIR test rules will provide a guarantee of safety and security for goods owners who use transportation services.
"So that for the owner of goods and users of transportation services, it also feels safe when the cargo is transported," concluded Toto.
