JAKARTA- Association of Indonesian Export Companies (GPEI) promises overall export assistance from upstream to downstream for micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) assisted by GPEI DKI Jakarta DPD. This commitment was delivered after hearing firsthand the various complaints faced by entrepreneurs.
In the Sharing Discussion event held in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/27/2025) yesterday, MSME actors conveyed a number of classic obstacles that prevent them from penetrating the global market.
GPEI Secretary General, Toto Dirgantoro, who was present at the forum, confirmed that licensing problems and lack of information were the main problems.
"They conveyed various obstacles, especially related to licensing and export processes," said Toto.
He added, business people not only complained, but also actively asked for clear guidance in order to immediately move up the class.
"Many of them also ask for concrete direction about the steps that must be taken," he continued.
Answering this, GPEI will take a proactive step in the upstream section by facilitating MSME visits to the Surabaya Export Center and Inaexport. The goal is that they can learn directly and register their products.
Furthermore, assistance on the downstream side is also prepared. Toto emphasized that GPEI would actively bridge these SMEs with the international market.
"We will follow up by bringing together their products with prospective buyers from abroad," said Toto.
This step was taken because GPEI assessed that the products produced by DKI Jakarta UMKM actually have qualified qualities to compete.
"In my opinion, these DKI Jakarta fostered MSME products already have quality that is worthy of export," he concluded. (*)
