GORONTALO - The export potential of superior commodities from Gorontalo is considered abundant, but is hampered by one main challenge. Chairman of the DPD Association of Indonesian Export Company (GPEI) of South Sulawesi, Arief Pabbetingi, revealed that logistics access is the biggest obstacle for entrepreneurs in the area.
This statement was delivered when he was a resource person in a business meeting between Gorontalo and South Sulawesi entrepreneurs at the Aston Hotel, Gorontalo, on September 16-17, 2025.
According to Arief, although many local products such as cocoa and coconut are ready to be exported, entrepreneurs find it difficult to send them outside the area efficiently.
"I see the biggest factor I value from the logistics side," said Arief, Friday (9/19/2025).
He explained that the limited access door, both by sea and air, became a serious barrier wall for the growth of export volumes from Gorontalo.
"The access door is logically, both the sea and air are very limited," he said.
In addition to logistics problems, Arief also highlighted the importance of support from other sectors, especially a stable and consistent payment system for the smooth transactions of international transactions.
"Very big hope, the existence of a payment system that is truly consistent," he concluded.
